WSP Group plc is a global business providing management and consultancy services to the built and natural environment. The WSP Group, which was established in Gauteng, South Africa in 1946 has offices in Sandton, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria, Ekurhuleni, Bloemfontein, Mauritius, Gabarone, Mozambique and Nigeria. WSP Group plc is fully listed on the London Stock Exchange. WSP Group plc currently employs some 10 000 people. The WSP Group has a number of operating Companies operating in the following fields, Consulting Engineering, Turnkey Industrial Projects, IT Consulting, Facilities Management and Environmental Consulting. The Group’s strength lies in its diversity of experience, the quality of it’s people and it’s international links. The diversity of expertise that the Group has is unparalleled in South Africa and the sub-Saraharan African region. We are able to offer services for construction projects from cradle to grave. Before the project begins we can undertake the environmental impact assessments. We can carry out all the engineering design aspects of the development, we can provide the IT facilities within the completed development, and finally we can manage and maintain the facility on the developers behalf. The environmental and facilities management arms of our business have enabled us to strengthen our design expertise. We are now able to incorporate environmental aspects into project design. The facilities management division provides useful feedback to the design engineers, and the effect of their designs on maintenance issues. Being a service organisation, the Company is only as good as the people it employs. Our staff have been carefully selected for their dedication and commitment to client service. We are extremely proud of the length of service that most of our staff have enjoyed with the Group. The average length of service of the Directors is 17 years, and the average length of service of staff members is 7.5 years, well above industry norms. Our policy is to develop long term relationships with Clients, we are not looking for quick wins. We like to set up partnering agreements with our Clients, that offer benefits to both parties. We have relationships with many of our Clients going back over 10 years. The Group has strong South African roots, having been established in South Africa in 1946. The international links were established when WSP UK acquired a 76% share of the WEVS Group in 1999 as well as a 76% share in the firmMacintosh, Bergh & Sturgess. WSP is one of the top three (3) multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firms in Europe and is listed on the London Stock Exchange. They employ over 10 000 staff in 60 offices worldwide. We have set up regular staff exchange programmes in order to assist with technology transfers, and the Group have a well developed Intranet which hosts technical libraries, specifications, technical articles, design standards and technical databases. The Group aims to maintain it’s place at the forefront of technology. Testimony to this is the fact that they developed an instrument for determining the Y2K status of "black box" micro processor devices. They recently set up a Virtual Solutions Company which develops virtual models of the Clients development. This enables us to "walk" Clients through a virtual model of their proposed development. We trust that you will soon have a need for one of the services offered by our Group of Companies and we look forward to welcoming you on board as one of our valued Clients. Employees: 800 in Africa and 10 000 Worldwide
