With a strong European background filled with centuries of the art and creation of majestic wines, it is of no surprise my innate sense of this history ultimately called me to winemaking. Since graduating from Adelaide University, I have accomplished over 35 years experience in winemaking working for large companies such as Penfolds Wines Australia, Penfolds Wines New Zealand, and Orlando Wyndham.
I have a wide and varied technical experience as a winemaker to some of the finest vineyards in the world including Italy and California. This increased my intense passion for the pursuit of fine wines. My approach to winemaking is based on this experience and my wines absorb much of the magic and beauty of these locations.
Now, going solo gives me the personal freedom to explore, develop and express my love of wines, the constant quest for improvement being my driving force. I choose only distinguished vineyard sites for each variety of wine, ensuring eminent quality of the wine. For a Verdelho, it will be the Hunter Valley, Adelaide Hills for Chardonnay and McLaren Vale for Shiraz. I extend to you an invitation to taste the difference a hands-on approach can make to your experience of enjoying quality wines.
For me, being a winemaker can be demanding and requires a full-time commitment. Each vintage is different and brings new challenges and new experiences but I wouldn’t swap it for the world. It’s a great lifestyle!
