Our wilderness base camp on Spring Island offers unexpected camping comforts, guided kayaking adventures, and the opportunity to connect with the local ecology and Aboriginal culture, while savouring a relaxing holiday. Our wilderness retreat base camp location is in the heart of British Columbia\'s finest sea kayaking! Our talented professionally-certified guides will introduce you to the diverse wildlife (sea otters, tufted puffins, black bears, osprey, eagles, sea lions,...), and the local Aboriginal culture and community. The kayaking options from our base camp are diverse, with multiple day trip routes and destinations that offer variety for new or more experienced paddlers. Enjoy activities for all weather, ages, and interests, on land and on sea. Explore and learn about enchanted old-growth rainforests, the fascinating marine life in tide pools, or the cultural history associated with scenic island clusters in one of the most remote parts of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, and Canada. With local First Nations ownership, we work closely with the nearby community of Kyuquot, supporting capacity building and economic development. A variety of our support services are sourced from local First Nations providers. Our guides are certified through the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC (SKGABC) or the Association of Canadian Sea Kayak Guides (ACSKG). We are active stewards of the local marine ecology (e.g., monitors for the adjacent Checleset Bay Important Bird Area and Ecological Reserve) and are members of the Wilderness Tourism Association of BC.
