Wilkins Fitness Enterprises was founded in early 2001 in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina by Michele and Dan Wilkins. Dan had previously held senior positions in Herman's, Dick's and Sportevo. What began initially as a retail location, Charleston Fitness Equipment, quickly expanded to Myrtle Beach and Hilton Head and soon became the largest specialty fitness equipment dealer in the state of South Carolina.
