And for all of those people, including the Washington Post that asked, “why an antique store and comedy club?” — and the answer is this. I started my career in comedy and it was one night and one moment that made an impact on my life forever.

I was working at The Honolulu Comedy Club and one night, a man asked me to have a drink with him and talk. And that man was Redd Foxx. He was so kind, so gracious to want to not only have a drink with me — but he also wanted to be my friend. His words of wisdom, his friendship meant more to me than I actually realized. And when I think about it today, Redd Foxx is both “Antique Store” and “Comedian.” And in some strange tribute and homage to a man I respected, I created that here in Waco, Texas.
