The Chateau Thenac estate is situated to the east of Bordeaux in the heart of the Perigord region, famed for its picturesque countryside, medieval castles, fine wines and black truffles. The estate is located in the hamlet of Thenac and comprises in total almost 200 hectares.
The principal parts of the Chateau are built on the ruins of a Benedictine Priory dating back to the 12th century (1109).
The oldest surviving parts of the existing property were built in the 16th century, and the property has been recently restored to the finest standards whilst maintaining the traditional French style.
The house is surrounded by rolling vineyards as far as the eye can see but the estate also includes plum orchards, ancient woodlands, lakes and farmland.
The property includes a small private Roe deer park as well as sheep, goats and other animals. The lakes host a menagerie of ducks and other wildfowl including a pair of rare black swans the inspiration behind the label of the eau de vie made from our own plum orchards.
