When Tiger Stadium opened in 1924, it had a seating capacity of only 12,000. Over the years, renovations and expansions have increased the stadium’s current capacity to 102,321. As of today, it is the third largest stadium in the Southeastern Conference (SEC), the fifth largest stadium in the NCAA, and the sixth largest stadium in the world. The original stadium, built in 1924, now forms only the lower half of the current facility's grandstands on the east and west sidelines. Just eight years after its opening, an additional 10,000 seats were added to the existing grandstands.
