Based on IMO?s regulations and the SOLAS 1974 convention, Jotron has been at the forefront when it comes to safety communication products. - Global Maritime Distress & Safety System, known as GMDSS, was put into force in 1992 by IMO. This meant that for all ships covered by the SOLAS convention it was a mandatory requirement to install one 406 MHz float-free EPIRB, two radar transponders and portable VHF?s. Since the integration of GMDSS, Jotron has been a major supplier of the specified emergency radio equipment necessary to fulfil these requirements. - In addition Jotron can provide reliable and professional communication products for commercial vessels, fishing vessels and large pleasure crafts as well as high intensity marker and emergency lights for various marine and personal applications as diverse as hiking, diving, fish farms and lifeboats. - Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB). Jotron have for several years been one of the world's leading producers of SART (search and rescue radar transponder). - Jotron's Tron SART is designed for use in search and rescue operations and gives the exact location of the distressed indicated on the radar X-band display of any nearby ships, SAR vessels and aircrafts. - Hand Portable VHF Radios. Jotron have in over ten years produced handheld maritime VHF radios for emergency and regular use for onboard voice communication. - These radios have met the GMDSS regulations as well as distress channel for aeronautical radio systems (121.5 & 123.1 MHz). - Emergency and Marking Lights Jotron produce a wide range of various maritime lights.
