Jewellery Designers in Birmingham

James Newman has been designing and making contemporary jewellery from his base in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter since 1998.

Employing traditional jewellery making skills, together with newly emerging techniques and technologies, James has become renowned for innovative design, attention to detail and superior craftsmanship.

James is often called upon to represent the jewellery industry. From 2004 to 2009 he represented the interests of designer makers on the board of the British Jewellers Association. He currently sits on the board of the Jewellery Innovation Centre and has recently acted as mentor on the Birmingham’s Design Space. Recently James has been approached to mentor on the Goldsmiths’ Hothouse programme.

Since 2007 James has worked with fashion designer Neil Barrett and continues to design and manufacture their jewellery collections.

By embracing all aspects of jewellery production and having a strong design philosophy, James aims to continue pushing boundaries, creating beautiful jewellery that endures.
