Alumina is a powder mainly consisting of Al2O3 as well as some other materials and is used as the primary raw material in the industry of aluminum refinery in aluminum smelter plants . Although alumina powder has a wide variety of usage in different industries , generally speaking, some 90% output of alumina is utilized for metallurgical purpose i.e . production of aluminum. Alumina is also used for non-metallurgical purposes such as in ceramic products and production of Aluminium sulfate .
