When you get too hot, you rush to the thermostat and turn your air up. When you get too cold, you rush back to the thermostat and turn your heat up. Does that sound about right? Unfortunately, this train of thought has led a lot of homeowners to believe that the temperature inside of their home is the only thing that matters when it comes to their heating and cooling system. The EPA has reported that toxic chemicals found in the home are, on average, three times more likely to cause cancer than outdoor airborne pollutants. The Consumer Product Safety Commision connects 150 chemicals commonly found in our homes to allergies, birth defects, cancer, and psychological disorders. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health analyzed 2,983 chemicals used in personal care products and 884 were found to be toxic.
