FARMEC was established more than

120 years ago. Nowadays the name FARMEC

means the biggest Romanian cosmetics

producer and one of the largest in Europe.

Its main focus is on the cosmetics, deodorants

and household production and distribution

activities.

Entirely privatized in 1995, FARMEC

has a turnover of 24 million Euros and

employs more than 600 people. According

to a recent market study carried out by AC

Nielsen market research company, FARMEC

is the local Romanian market leader for

complexion creams and lotions category and is

ranked second for the category of products

designated for body, hands and feet care.

For the face care segment FARMEC has

succeeded in getting ahead of recognized

companies such as Beiersdorf and LOreal.

After 1990, important aspects in the

companys strategy were the development

of its own distribution network and

increasing exports.

As a result, at the end of 2000, FARMEC

had built its own distribution network of 14

commercial offices that cover the most

important regions of Romania and an export

turnover that represents 10 percent of the

companys total turnover. With the major

export market being Japan, FARMECs

products are present worldwide, from Europe

to the Americas, and Asia, in countries

such as Greece, Hungary, Austria, Italy,

Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain,

USA, Canada, UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon,

Jordan and South Korea.

As a result of its excellence in business

FARMEC has been certified ISO 9001 since

2002 and awarded numerous international

and national prizes such as:

International Award for Commercial

Prestige in Madrid, from 1991 to 1994;

Silver Hermes Trophy in Greece, 1995;

Golden Award for Commercial Prestige in

Madrid, in 1997 and 2007.

FARMECs strategy is customer oriented,

the company offering top quality,

innovative products for competitive prices.

A special focus is on marketing and design,

the company having its own team of

designers, collaborating with the best

advertising agencies and being

systematically involved in public relation

activities, TV press campaigns.
