It is believed that bathing in the lake and drinking its water cleanses all sins. The Hindu mythology states that the lake was first created in the mind of lord Brahma, hence its name Manasarovar, which is a combination of two Sanskrit words Manas which means mind and Sarovar which means lake.

However, the pilgrimage to this mystical region, which is believed to be the navel of the universe, is difficult and arduous.
