Bog-wood is trunks of trees that have lain in lakes, river bottoms and swamps, for centuries and even millennia. Deprived of oxygen, the wood undergoes the process of fossilization.
Water flow and depth play a special role in the creation of Bog. Currents bind the minerals and iron in the water with tannins in the wood, naturally staining the wood in the process. This centuries-long process, often termed "maturation," turns the wood from golden-brown to completely black, while increasing its hardness to such a level that it can only be carved with the use of specialty cutting tools.
Products from Bog "ebony" Oak are considered to be exclusive. Given the limited volumes of production and the complexity of the technological process of Bog "ebony" Oak, products
made of it are not only aesthetic, but also a collector's value. Historical descriptions can be found the name of bog oak as the "ebony" and "iron tree".
The age of these Bog Oak block has been determined by a radiocarbon date analysis and it's about 5460 years. We will send a copy of Radiocarbon Date Certificate.
