From Breton tradition to Quebec renewal
The couple Demoy left their native Brittany in the late 1970s to settle in Quebec . Robert, an oenologist graduate from the University of Bordeaux, works a few years for a leading Quebec manufacturer of wines and ciders. For her part, Joëlle Demoy works in the same work environment since her return to the labor market in 1983.
In 1986, the two epicureans decide to devote themselves entirely to apple cider production in setting up Cidrerie du Minot in Hemmingford , a region known for its gravelly soil and exceptional microclimate. Located 60 km south of Montreal, the Cidrery boasts several orchards spread over 52 hectares of land. They grow a wonderful assortment of traditional Quebec apples and several new varieties specifically grown for the production of cider .
