Plastic bung has different sizes and thread designs to meet varied sealing requirements of steel drums and plastic drums. Steel drum requires plastic plug with fine thread, and it needs to follow the same standard as steel drum plug. Plastic drum plugs usually require 2'' and 3/4'' NPT or 2'' NPS or 2'' buttress plastic bungs.

Most common raw mateial for plastic bung is PP, and nylon material is made for flammable and explosive proof purpose. Type of gasket used is determined by contents within the drums. There are high temperature, chemical, oil resistant gaskets that come with the plastic bungs.
