Synthetic PAO oils are specially engineered chemicals derived from alpha olefins. These stable molecules are created through a process that includes steam cracking hydrocarbons to yield ultra-high-purity ethylene, followed by ethylene oligomerization to produce 1-decene and 1-dodecene. Finally, decene or dodecene oligomerization forms a mix of dimers, trimers, tetramers, and higher oligomers.
