Funeral Directors in Gateshead

The funeral business known as W. Lauderdale & Son Funeral Services was formed by W. Lauderdale senior in 1946 in Sheriff Hill, Gateshead.

In 1948 following the success of the business, he then took over the long-established funeral business of Davy Wood and Andy Farnington in Askew Road, Gateshead.

W. Lauderdale junior joined his father's business in 1960 and proceeded to take full control of the business in 1968. W. Lauderdale then moved to Dunston when the premises were vacated on Askew Road in 1975, this was due to redevelopment of the area. The business is now run by Bill, his wife Doris and son William from Market Lane, and Ravensworth Road, Dunston.

Bill qualified to be an embalmer with the British institute of embalmers in 1972 where he then went on to gain The National Association of Funeral Directing Diploma in Funeral Direction (DipFD).
