F C Douch was founded in 1910 by my grandfather, Frederick Charles Douch, and is one of the oldest family owned businesses in Wimborne. My Father, Jack Douch, is the present Chairman of our company and I joined him in 1992 after working overseas. I, Peter Douch, am a Chartered Accountant and and Managing Director of the company. We were originally situated in The Square, Wimborne where our funeral interests were run alongside the furnishings side of the business. Due to the expansion of our Funeral Directing businesses it was necessary, after 86 years, to dispose of our furnishing interest. We are presently situated in Leigh Road in a Grade II listed building which my Grandfather bought in the early 1920s, and where we were the first funeral directors in Wimborne to have Chapels of Rest. Due to changes in the road system in Leigh Road we closed these premises for some years but returned to Leigh Road in 1996. Our renovated and refurbished premises are home to a sunny reception area, lounge and two Chapels of Rest on the ground floor, our administrative offices are situated above, and we have a car park at the rear of the property. I am pleased that two of my sons, Nicholas and Quentin have joined the family firm, making four generations of the Douch family involved in the business. We have found that modern funeral directing has seen an increase in pre-arranging and pre-payment of funerals and we have launched The DORSET Funeral Plan. We pride ourselves on the caring service we provide our local community and offer help and support to the families at their time of need. We help smooth their path through all the arrangements necessary to say goodbye to their loved one. Our 24-hour services are tailored to individual requirements and can be arranged from their home or our office.
